President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today for a farewell visit the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Gilles Beschoor Plug and thanked him for the good cooperation, as well as for his contribution to the improvement of bilateral relations.

President Vučić assessed as particularly important the visit of the head of Dutch diplomacy of the Blok, who was in Belgrade during the diplomatic mandate of Ambassador Plug, expressing the expectation that in the future there will be more high-level contacts as that would lead to better mutual understanding between Serbia and the Netherlands.

The two interlocutors stated that the two countries' economic ties are progressing, both through trade exchange and investments of Dutch companies on the Serbian market. Ambassador Plug said that Serbia's results in the field of economy have been noticeable, which leads to the interest of potential new investors from the Netherlands.

President Vučić thanked the Netherlands for supporting Serbia's European path and pointed out that our country is committed to social and economic reforms.

Ambassador Plug welcomed the efforts that Serbia makes in terms of reforms in the area of the rule of law, emphasising at the same time that it is necessary for European standards to be applied in all areas of life. He congratulated on how Serbia is fighting against COVID-19.

President Vučić wished Ambassador Plug much success in his future duties.
